New Website!!!

Okay the secret is out. I am working on a new website. I am moving weddings and portraits to a new site but under the same name mauldinphotography.com. Sports and proofing is really staying in the same place, but the name is changing. To be honest, I am really not sure how all the technical parts work. At some point over this weekend, I expect that the current site's name will change to mauldinsports.com.

It has been a process! Hopefully everyone can bear with me through the rest of the process. You will love the new site! And, sports will work the same - just a new web site name. Once the new site is completely up and running you can actually link back to the sports site from the home page.

I think email may also be affected in the change over. You can always get an email to me through my root email: mauldin_photography@hotmail.com

So to recap:
weddings and portraits are moving to mauldinphotography.com (site not up and running yet)
Sports are now on the site mauldinsports.com
Email in the meantime: mauldin_photography@hotmail.com

Confusing, I know! Trust me, I know. For now, if mauldinphotography.com doesn't take you to the site - use mauldinsports.com

If all else fails - give me a call 870-219-6504. Thanks for being patient! I will blog when everything goes live!!!! - Cheryl

Happy Thanksgiving!

thanksgiving or happy thanksgiving Pictures, Images and Photos
This is by far my most favorite holiday of the year. I always try to reflect and make a list of everything I have to be thankful for... and the list gets longer every year. Aside from good health, my family is blessed in so many ways. I feel blessed and fortunate to have met so many great people over the past year. You guys really are the BEST!

We will be closed on Thursday to spend time with family and friends... and to see Twilight (yay!). Texts, emails and phone calls will be returned on Friday. I hope you all have something you are thankful for this Thanksgiving. Enjoy the day and be safe in your travels! Happy Thanksgiving!- Cheryl

Noah, Danielle, & Drake

In the middle of Amanda's session yesterday, we also photographed a mini-session with Noah and Danielle. Drake was so excited - he was running all over the place exploring Parker Pioneer Homestead. Drake, would of course, be the dog! We did manage to get him to stand still for a couple frames! And, then he was off to chase the farm cat!

Here are my favorites:

I will have the gallery posted in the next few days! - Cheryl

Amanda Senior '09

We had the worst luck with weather in scheduling this session. Cancelled once before because of 40 mile an hour winds. Then yesterday was just yucky. I was really thankful it was warmer than Saturday, but the rain I could have done without. You just gotta love this time of year when trying to plan an outdoor shoot. However, we braved the elements and managed to finish the whole session...as Mom looked on from under her umbrella! Amanda picked the coolest place for her backdrop - Parker Pioneer Homestead in White Hall. I had lots of fun exploring as we moved around. Excellent choice, girl!

Amanda will graduate from Weiner High School in May. And, this is her senior style!

I had lots of fun photographing you today and exploring this cool spot you picked! - Cheryl

Tyler

When we planned Tyler's session it was a warm 70 degrees. However, mother nature through us a curve. It was 33 degrees Saturday morning! Oh my gosh, it was so cold! With Arkansas weather you just really never know what you will get. Tyler was a champ though and braved the cold. Even taking his shoes off once for a special request from Mom.

Here are my faves:

Tyler's session made me feel a little old, since I can still remember when he was born. What a handsome guy he has grown up to be! Thanks, Lisa for calling me to document Tyler's portraits! - Cheryl

Wedding Tip - Save the Date cards

I know it's the holiday season and unless you have a wedding in the next few months, you probably aren't even thinking about invitations. However, more couples get engaged at Christmas than any other time of the year. So I know there are lots of upcoming brides reading the blog. I get lots of questions about Save the Date cards. Who should send them? When should I send them? So, here's my take on Save the Date:

Couples planning to get married on a holiday weekend or planning a destination wedding should send Save the Date cards. If you don't fall into that category, you can still send them, but it's not required for proper wedding etiquette. It's a fun way to announce your engagement and show off your engagement photos though!

The whole premise of Save the Date is to give your wedding guests time to plan their schedule. They may need to make travel plans if you are planning a destination wedding. Airline tickets and hotel offer discounts the farther out you plan. Or, your holiday wedding may completely change a guest's plans for that holiday. Give them a heads up in advance.

Save the Date cards are generally mailed six months to a year in advance of the wedding. Again following etiquette toward your guests. Finalize your guest list first! Everyone who receives a save the date notice should also receive an invitation.

Basically the Save the Date card is just a short announcement of your wedding plans. You can make them fun. They can be personalized to your wedding theme, or show off your unique personalities. Include your names, wedding date, city you plan where you plan to marry and "Invitation to Follow". If you have a wedding website where you are posting your wedding plans, include the link. And, if you know some of the travel plans in advance, give your guests those details.

Mauldin Photography offers a full line of Save the Date cards with many styles and colors to choose from. So, when he pops the question on Christmas Day - call 870.219.6504 and lets schedule your engagement session! - Cheryl

Go Hounds!!!

Play-off game 2 kicks off tonight in Gravette. I am so bummed that I cannot go to this game. It's hard to be on the sidelines all season and then miss one of the most important games of the season:-( But I hear the team is excited and pumped up - ready to take on Gravette. I hope lots of Greyhounds fans make the five-hour trip to cheer them on. Aren't we just so proud of our seniors? You guys have had an amazing season. I am very proud of all of you!

Good luck tonight guys! I am with you in spirit! And, rooting for Heber Springs tonight! - Cheryl

Team Reynolds

Last weekend I shot just Chris and Luke. So yesterday it was the whole family's turn. The weather couldn't have been worse...well I guess it could have been worse. At least it wasn't pouring rain. Cold, windy and sprinkling rain is not a great mix for outdoor family portraits. But The Reynolds are troopers and braved all the bad weather. I love how they wanted unique poses and settings. We really played off the Coach in Benny and how much a part football is of their lives. This is real photography to me - making it unique to who you are. So, here are my favorites from the family session:

Doesn't that just scream, "Send me in coach!"? This is my absolute favorite of Luke from this session.

Amanda and Benny - I had a blast shooting your family session. I love people who think outside the box! I see a couple of future Greyhounds here.- Cheryl

Chris & Luke

I had so much fun Sunday afternoon shooting Chris and Luke. Chris is a little ham and Luke smiled the whole time. Of course, the real picture was Mom dancing behind the camera to keep Luke's attention! Aren't they just so cute? They definitely got Mom and Dad's blue eyes. Here are my faves:

Thanks, Amanda! I just love your boys! Can't wait to do your whole family session this coming weekend! - Cheryl

Mackenzie

Sunday I met Miss Mackenzie and her family in the park to shoot her fall session. It was a little cool, especially in the shade. Poor Mackenzie had this little red nose at the end of the hour. She was so funny and had so many different facial expressions. Here are my favorite images from her session:

Carol, thanks so much for calling me. She is just precious! Your gallery should be up in a day or so! - Cheryl

Laci, Senior of '09

Saturday afternoon I photographed Laci's senior style session. I was so excited when her Mom called to book this session because she is one of my favorite seniors! Laci has it going on. Upward basketball coach, softball star, intelligent, homecoming queen, cheerleader, gorgeous, funny - and just a good girl. I just love her. I wish all young women her age had such a good head on their shoulders. I am definitely one of her biggest fans!

It was impossible to take one bad photograph of her. It took me forever to go through her gallery and pick my favorites. But, finally here are mine...

Thanks Laci, I had a blast doing your session. I am so glad you guys called to book me! I hope this time next year I am following your college softball career! I think you are awesome! - Cheryl
