America's Next Top Model

So we have this Wednesday night tradition at our house. It's rush from work to eat dinner, so that we can be at home in time to watch America's Next Top Model. I'll admit I am a late comer to ANTM. But, Lindsay got me hooked this season. Very early in cycle 10 we all began to root for the same girl...Whitney Thompson.

Whitney was called everything from full-figured to plus-sized - and that size being a size 10! And yes, there were girls who had much more tragic lives and obstacles to overcome, but Whitney is just exactly the girl next door. So to be the Covergirl, size 10 looks just about right.

So, down to the very last episode we were glued to the TV every Wednesday. By the end of the season we had Britt home from college and had even managed to win Hannah's friend Jesse over to our side. On that last Wednesday night, me, Lindsay, Hannah, Jesse, Britt and Alex piled in the den to cheer on Whitney. And, I have to say there was a bit of cheering going on when Whitney was announced as the winner! Tyra said it best: "She may be considered plus-size in this competition, but on the street she's just another hot chick." I can't think of a better role model for young girls than a regular-sized real girl who is confident and intelligent. Way to go, Whitney!
