Capture Arkansas Contest

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette is publishing a collection of photographs that showcase Arkansas. Arkansas has so much to offer residents and vacationers, that I was happy to participate. So, thanks for the invitation to submit my work, Tabitha. It works this way, photographs are submitted and then voted on by viewers. Photographs with the most votes, and the editor's choices, are published. I am hopeful that at least one of my photographs will get published.

So, check out my submitted photos at www.capturearkansas.com. This link will take you to my photographs or just browse the chapters of the book. All votes are appreciated. No pressure.... but Go Vote! And, who knows maybe you have some photos you would like to submit? - Cheryl

He Did It!!!!

Last night I was so proud when my nephew, Justin, graduated from high school. Just two years ago I watched as Brittany graduated. I was just as proud of Justin last night. It just seems like yesterday he was running around in diapers. Going back to the high school gym in Bradford was like a walk down memory lane for me, since I graduated there a few years ago:-) No, I'm not saying how long ago! Last night marked the 90th graduating class at BHS. Even though lots has changed at BHS, some things were just the same as I remember.

And, his Mom was proud of him, too!

Justin and Taryn

Aren't they cute?

So, Justin as you are turning 18 and going out into the world - I hope you find happiness in whatever you do! I am so proud of you! - Aunt Cheryl

Emeri

At the beginning of the year I shot a maternity session for Rhianna. We all anxiously anticipated to arrival of little Emeri. Now she is 3 months old! Man time really flies. This weekend we shot her three-month old portraits, even though Emeri was teething and not really in the mood to be a supermodel.

But with a few breaks for little naps, we managed to get some great images.

And, in the end Emeri was pooped. Being a supermodel is hard work!

Allyson & Lacy

Newport High School has a couple of all-star softball players this year, Allyson Freeman and Lacy Cockrill. NEA Gameface plans to feature them in an upcoming issue. I was thrilled when Joel asked me to get some photos to use in the article and some of the ads featuring the two. The NHS softball team had a great season, due in part to these two superstar pitchers. Congratulations girls!

Katrina's Family

After all the flooding rains, we were finally able to schedule a family portrait in the park. I was really nervous about the location since the park was completely under water a couple of days before their scheduled session. The water even covered the play ground. Even though it was still a bit soggy (muddy!) in spots, we still managed to photograph that Sunday.

Riley was being a bit shy for the official family portraits. But just a few minutes on the playground and she warmed right up. Even stopping every now and then to pose for me. Too cute!

Annette & Greg

I will admit that I have been a bad blogger lately. Seems like with the beginning of Spring and the end of the school year, everything just runs in high gear. A couple of weekends ago I met Annette and Greg at Old Mill to shoot their engagement session. I met them at the Little Rock Bridal Fair, and they were one of the lucky couples who won an engagement session.

This time of year in Arkansas you really just never know what kind of weather you will have. In the weeks prior to their session we had flooding rains, cold weather and tornadoes. So, I was thrilled to wake up that Saturday to blue skies, even though it was a little chilly.

The Old Mill is one of my favorite locations, and I think the images turned out great! Congratulations on your engagement and I wish you lots of luck for your future together.
