Five Times August

What started as a simple friend request on myspace, has led to an incredible opportunity. One night I was searching myspace music for something interesting to post on my myspace page and came across this great song from Five Times August. I added it to my page and just for kicks asked to be added as his friend. This past weekend through the myspace bulletin board I found out that he would be filming a live performance at Sun Studio in Memphis.

Anyway, through the magic of the internet and some email connections, I've been invited to photograph the filming of his live performance at Sun Studio. How cool is that! Don't you just love myspace? It will be a "behind-the-scenes" kind of documentary shoot of the filming. My kids think this is so cool.

If you haven't heard of Five Times August, you have to check him out. Brad is releasing a new CD, "Brighter Side," on March 18th and touring the rest of the year. He's been picked by about.com as the "artist in the wings," he was the windows media artist on the rise, and he was the napster staff pick for his latest single. On Bill's Top 40 blog (about.com): "24-year-old Brad Skistimas (aka Five Times August) ranks as one of the top unsigned artists on MySpace for good reason. His melodies are instantly infectious and carry a laidback rock feel familiar to fans of John Mayer or Jack Johnson. The new single "The Good Life" is immediately engaging. With his most recent self-released album, Five Times August accomplished feats most other unsigned artists can only dream of. He is the first unsigned artist to be marketed in Wal-Mart stores nationwide. He sold over 100,000 digital downloads off the album The Independent, and his songs have been featured on a wide range of TV shows."

If you get a chance to see Brad live, by all means - go! I just love his music. Click here to visit Brad's website.

I am so excited about photographing Brad's performance, can't wait to meet him. Watch the website for photos from the shoot. I'll try to post those over the weekend. And, check out Five Times August! - Cheryl
