How about those Hounds!

The Greyhounds finished the 2008 football season on the road at Dollarway on Friday. What a game! It came down to an overtime battle with Dollarway on top by only one point. Knowing it was the last night the seniors would wear a Greyhound jersey was sad. That final minute was heartbreaking. You can see the action shots here.

I have enjoyed this football season so much, and have grown so fond of these young men. I am terribly proud of what they accomplished this year. The scoreboard is not the only indication of a winner. You guys should hold your heads high because you have lots to be proud of. I know Newport is proud of you! You will always be a Greyhound at heart, so take what you've learned here and go out into the world! - Cheryl

Go Hounds!!!

Play-off game 2 kicks off tonight in Gravette. I am so bummed that I cannot go to this game. It's hard to be on the sidelines all season and then miss one of the most important games of the season:-( But I hear the team is excited and pumped up - ready to take on Gravette. I hope lots of Greyhounds fans make the five-hour trip to cheer them on. Aren't we just so proud of our seniors? You guys have had an amazing season. I am very proud of all of you!

Good luck tonight guys! I am with you in spirit! And, rooting for Heber Springs tonight! - Cheryl

Local athletes featured in NEA Gameface

So, Connie Boyster called me a few months back to design an ad for her to use in an issue of NEA Gameface. Connie is so supportive of our local students and wanted an ad that featured as many our of local athletes as possible. It was kind of fun digging through all the images I have taken this season to find the big plays and star athletes.

I picked up a copy of the new issue on Friday and saw the full-page ad! Here is a preview of the ad:

Be sure and pick up a copy. Thanks for your business, Connie! I really appreciate our business relationship and love how you support the local school and students! - Cheryl

Conference Game of the Year

Tomorrow night is Senior Night at Greyhound Field. The game versus Osceola was picked early on as the conference game of the year, and it should be great. Kick-off is at 7 pm - lets all come out and support the Hounds! Come early because before game time the graduating senior football players, Whippets, Cheerleaders, ROTC, and Band will be honored. Let's all show our support and appreciation for the many hours they have all put in over the years to earn their place in the proud Greyhound Tradition!

Guys go out there and win this one to go out in style as Greyhounds and for Colton and Westley! It has been so much fun watching you over through your high school years! You guys ROCK! - Cheryl

2008 White River Bowl

It is now officially high school football season in Newport! It's really not football season until Newport plays Batesville! The Greyhounds kicked off the season opener last night on their home field against the Batesville Pioneers. The annual White River Bowl has become one of the legendary high school football rivalry games. Though a disappointing loss for Newport, the game showcased great athleticism from both teams. Newport's Koren Pruitt and Batesville's Price Holmes were named players of the game. Check out all the game action on the officialMauldin Photography website. I even have some new really cool, unique photo products for this sports season.- Cheryl
